Supervision of all Youth Activities

A. The supervision of all activities should be constant, and at no time should any participants be left unsupervised.

B. No participant should be away from the group, with a single staff member, in an isolated area, whether the participant is of either the same or opposite gender. The “Rule of Two” applies and requires that another staff member, or volunteer be present.

C. During overnight events, male and female will sleep in two separate tents or rooms with supervision by the appropriate gender counselor or staff. Staff may sleep in the room with participants, or immediately outside the sleeping area. And observation of the “rule of two” above is required.

D. The Group may elect to sleep out-of-doors outside of a tent or building. If so, males and females must be separated, with ten feet and the counselors between them.

E. Every effort should be taken to create a physical and emotionally safe environment for participants to sleep in. Privacy in bathing, and in utilizing the bathroom facilities must be the priority of the staff. If staff is needed to intervene in an emergency medical situation or for any other reason, the “rule of two” must be observed, and if possible an additional staff person should be present.
